SO i finally did it and purchased a 2-ton engine hoist from TEMU , it turned up today, i figured it would work out cheaper than hiring one, the number of times i am going to use it.

Initial thoughts

There are no captive nuts in the frame, so bolting the wheels on necessitated some ingenuity, the M8 bolts use a 14mm hex which is odd, and there is no length spared on them, so if i decide to change to nylocs in the future new bolts will be needed. It seems strong enough, but the proof of thepudding should be at the weekend.

I guarantee the wheels will be rubbish, what they try and pass off as bearings will make for hard work to move it about with a load on,
I have a 3 tonner and I binned the shit wheels and castors that it came with and fitted quality wheels and castors with proper bearings in their place, It's now much easier to move about and it's more stable therefor safer.

I’m with Cobber on the wheel modification & used larger wheels with locking casters for those times when stability is an issue. I also rivnutted the wheel mounts. I won’t say it transformed the item but it’s certainly easier.
It was a useful investment as it does the rounds, probably shifted more Land Rover engines etc than you could shake transfer box linkage at.

Yes, i will be changing the wheels. For now it only needs to lift stationary, as I just need to lift the engine of the subframe and back onto the new one, which can be done without wheeling it about
