Hi, J'm a italian user and sorry for my english.
After assembling the whole thing, and you have followed the letter of the manual, you adjust the height from the ground l 'car as suplex specifications, is impossible to drive, at each hole in asphalt black cylindrical boxes which house the bounce causing springs of noises between boxes and springs. Perhaps because the suspensions in my opinion too soft does not work properly.
I thought I had made the correct choice in place to Hydragas, and now find me a mgf unusable, and over 1000 Euros thrown to the wind.
This email is a request for help, kindly await the resolution to the problem.
Thank you
I don’t think there is a solution to find the correct operation of the Suplex suspension kit without compromise that can be retro fitted to the MGF, it may suit other vehicles but if you look across the forums it is fraught with people having major issues with this kit when fitted to the MGF.
As the years roll by there won’t many MGF’s left on hydro gas suspension where the nitrogen accumulator bladder is correctly charged with gas, you can pump up the fluid to maintain the correct ride height but as the nitrogen is slowly absorbed out of the accumulator bladders the ride will harden up and the only suspension you will have is by the fluid displacement from one sphere to the other giving a pretty rough ride. Until someone comes up with a re-manufacturing process for replacing and re-charging the accumulator bladder or manufacture of new spheres you would be best putting up with the original system.
If I was looking to keep hold of an MGF as a classic car and had doubts over the nitrogen content in the spheres I would go for TF subfames (coilovers). I know it’s a big task but when it’s done you know it will work correctly for the rest of life of the car.
While there is still a glut of TF’s around for breaking and plenty of cheep second hand TF subframes; I think that would be the way to go. It’s a lot of work but with the exception of drilling the 2 holes in the inner wings for the strut tower tops; the rest is just a swap and would make a great winter project as you could refurb/paint the new frames ready to go over the summer and then take the car off the road for a month in winter to do the swap.
If I had paid 1,000 Euros for a kit that won’t work correctly and a lot of time and effort to fit which is now making the car un-drivable I would want my money back from the seller as a “sale of goods not fit for purpose” If you pay that much money for the kit it should go straight on the car and work, and you shouldn’t have to go back to Suplex who will keep fobbing you off with telling you to keep making adjustments.
I am sorry it’s such a negative response and not very helpful to your situation, but I hope you can find the best solution.
Brian.
