Left all the plumbing in situ. It does not get in the way and to remove it completely achieves nothing.

I originally got the warranty line too when I asked for a kit without dampers. Mind you I was also told the kits would be ready in 3,6,12,16 weeks..... never did get them so cancelled the order when the Aus setup became available. As did a number of guys out here. To B&Gs credit they refunded all the deposits, and I think they were being fed rubbish from their suppliers..... Has anyone actually got a Surplex kit yet?

Roger Parker at the MGOC has got one on his own MGF and fitted it himself last year, awaiting an update on performance, kits are in stock at B&G and MGOC but dont know how many (if any) have been sold. i understand that SUPLEX made a 1000 units which i assume was 250 kits????? i can ask Roger about sales but dont know that i will get a reply??

PS to m previous message. If looking at the photos on my profile the photos of the car with Trophy wheels are the ones taken after the fitting of the spring kit.

The set up you use seems perfect to me - a 'bell housing' to keep the springs in place, simple but very effective. Did you get rid of all the hydragas plumbing, too?

I emailed Brown & Gammons regarding selling the SUPLEX kit and the possibility of using just the sphere replacements, as opposed to the full kit and this is what I got back:

"Unfortunately we cannot supply the units without dampers at the moment as this will void any warranty through Suplex. Im hoping this may be available in the near future though"

The Surplex kit would have been ideal ‘IF’ they gave us the option of fitting the hydragas sphere replacements only – but having the kit as a ‘one size fits all’ package doesn’t appeal. Some like a hard, sportier ride and others like a softer ride.

I have just had a brand new set of Tech-Speed’s Bilstein dampers fitted. If the hydragas gave up, I would not be happy with fitting the Surplex package on a Trophy 160 and having to take my existing dampers off!

The Kit is made by a company called SUPLEX UK, and as far as i can understand they have tried to make it as close as possible to a standard MGF hydragas suspension and their shock absorbers are part of the kit. Why dont you contact SUPLEX directly and ask them if you could buy the spring units without the dampers. I have also asked Auseff in Australia to give me (and you) the contact details for the King Spring kit.

You could also contact Roger Parker at the MGOC to ask about the Standart SUPLEX kit he has on his MGF !!

Is there a web link for buying/ordering the sphere replacements and springs?

I am not sure about the Suplex kit because it states you have to use only the dampers provided!

Sorry Bryan, I wasn't suggesting that either MGOC or B&G would rip me off, although I understand that's how it looked. Your knowledge and help, along with the input from everyone else here, has been invaluable.

Once my membership comes through, I'll be contacting the MGOC to see where I go from here.

My mechanic has lots of experience with the MGF and also owned one himself in the past, but I take your point on the specialist knowledge required for the hydragas suspension.

Speak to Roger Parker, say you know me (i am also Secretary at the Epsom Area MG Owners club, with 300 members) and he will give you the best advice. His own MGF is one of the test mules for the Suplex conversion.
