Hi
I've just about got my MGF 75th LE back on the road, but the fob has never worked when i bought so been running off the key - battery changed etc but not cigar. So wondering if anyone around the bmouth area would let me drive to them and see if we can re-programme the fob - i have the emergency key code. Just looking at options
Thanks

G'day and Welcome to The-T-Bar forum, I'm not going to be much help with fob programing as I'm a bit too far away in Australia, but I'm sure one of the members will be able to give you a chopout!
But what I can do for you is direct you to our checklist for new members/owners:  https://www.the-t-bar.com/forum/54-how-tos/99326-a-check-list-for-new-owners

It would be worth your powder and shot to buy a pscan I think, it will come in useful for a multitude of uses.

Thanks, Id agree if i was going to keep, but my passion is bringing back old British classics to sell onto others, in this case a literal 75th LE barn find thats not run for 7 years ( and i think F's look lovely in black ), so will be looking to sell soon as its road ready after sorting it all out over the last few months and refreshing the old parts but want the new owner to have a working fob. I used to own one back in the 90's and so was a real joy to restore one and get back behind the wheel again.

CONCLUDED

Big up to surfymac who stopped by and got me sorted - true MG spirit, thankyou :) My existing fob always looked like it had been dunked in coffee and although i cleaned up, resoldered joints and installed new micro switches I could never get a good reading on my RF detector ( £20 amazon ) so got a used fob off ebay and that paired up nicely. RF detector is a good way to tell a dud.
Central locking on driver side is now my next problem to solve but thats fine.

Thanks to everyone else who offered to help

PS if you need a spare hard key, found a guy on ebay who you just send the key # to and he sorts you out a new one - much cheaper/less hassle than buying the right dummy key and then getting an old school machine to copy which has a risk of not quite fitting perfectly.
