I know absolutely nothing about working on cars and am just figuring things out as I need to with the help of the fine people on this forum but thanks to those instructions It only took me around 90 minutes and that includes the fact that I discovered having XPower hoops installed makes getting the engine cover off a much bigger pain in the backside, this meant I was able to use the extra time I'd allocated to the task to instead fit my newly painted spoiler and even had time to swap out the chrome lighter socket for a usb charger (rather than a plug in adapter) also removing the chrome ashtray for a black one. All in all a very productive day.
If you don't have a coolant alarm Bruce's kit is definitely the way to go, get it done and enjoy peace of mind.

I can't speak for every other set of hoops but it's very clear these are a very tough piece of kit compared to the more cosmetic ones and I certainly would trust them to increase my chances should the worst occur.
Ta22gt: I was going to take some photos today having finished the chrome delete, but I ran out of time as a shake down cruise disconnected one of the cables from the low coolant alarm causing me to lose the reversing lights and camera so I had to fix that.
The shake down also highlighted that my fuel gauge is a bit lazy, I filled the car up with some lovely V-Power, and the needle only rose to half a tank initially before suddenly jumping up to full, I'm sure that'll never come back to bite me

In fact they can be dangerous in they fail in a roll over they can break your neck from behind.........I've seen it happen!
Better off to take the damned pretend boy racer junk off and leave it off! But if you like them that's fine, just don't kid yourself that they are for safety's sake!
You would have to be seriously trying to roll one of these things over in anything like normal road use and even if you were giving it a bloody good fang would you tip it over.
The windscreen frame on these cars is actually designed to offer rollover protection.
I had a friend that wouldn't get in my car because she was frightened that it might roll over, no amount of trying to explain that how much less likely it was to roll over with it's superior handling or lower centre of gravity than her narrow gutted, high riding and crap handling, SUV shitbox could convince her otherwise. Mind you this is the same sheila that would happily ride pillion on the back of any Harley Davidson motorcycle!
Needless to say I kept the car, and let her go!

But yes as you say with the low centre of gravity you'd have to really want to roll a TF in order to ever actually test them and even then a telehandler would be the easiest way.
Once upon a time I had a convertible Peugeot (stop judging me, I was dealing with some stuff) which had hidden hoops which apparently in the event of a roll would be propelled by explosives through the rear trim to protect the driver..... The thought of. Peugeot with electronically controlled explosives was a horrifying thought, especially as that car used to randomly beep at people and turn it own headlights on (neither of which were features of the car)

I had graphic images of the car being gently rear ended and the driver of the other car getting out to say sorry..only to find two headless occupants!
I have a weird sense of humour.
