I would think that even if the car originally had asbestos in the clutch and brakes, they would've been replaced by now, and I doubt that the replacement items would contain asbestos. How you would go about proving it to the Australian Border Force authorities satisfaction would be your problem. I do know that they have gotten a serious hard on over asbestos in the last few years.
I've never Imported a car so I really can't say.

A few years ago the as a case of a bloke who wanted to temporarily bring in a totally original rare classic 60's Maserati for a show, event,  they demanded that he was going to have to disassemble the engine to prove that there had been no asbestos gaskets used, he was even prepared to not drive the car and not do any repairs while it was here so there would be no chance of anyone being exposed to asbestos, and they still weren't having it, so the car never came.

I get that asbestos is seriously nasty stuff, but considering the amount of it that was mined here and is allowed to blow about from those old abandoned mines as well as the huge amounts that was used and still found in homes and factories around the country, that the government aren't prepared to do much about, it was a bit heavy handed!
If suspected asbestos is encountered when working on the older structures and machines, then you have to inform the authorities and engage licensed hazardous materials company to remove it, they send a bloke around wearing a sperm suit, he stuffs it into a plastic bag and takes it away to be tossed into land fill somewhere.

The shipping agent should be able to explain what is required, there are many that specialise in cars.
It would be no problem chucking a set of new pads in before the car comes, the clutch might be a little more involved.
Some documentation such as receipts with part numbers  and brands clearly listed and cross reference back to the parts manufacturer might help.

"Keep calm, relax, focus on the problem & PULL THE BLOODY TRIGGER"

Thanks mate. I know the asbestos thing in Aus is huge, and once found somewhere the removal blokes in their sperm suites with their asbestos sniffers and the dump sites make an absolute fortune. We dealt with some buried asbestos in a yard a few years ago in QLD, and the cost was horrendous.
Best i start to make a few enquiries and dont leave it until the week before we put it on a boat.
I know the brake Pads are ok, but as you say, references might very well be needed.

Getting there, Once the snow cleared i did the first proper deep clean so looking much smarter now with a good coat of wax leaving it all nice and beady, new head unit & rear camera are in, new yellow leather gaitors are in, clearcoat is currently drying on some yellow interior trim in the living room, new tail lights are on with full LEDs, white interior LEDs done and i'm currently figuring out a direction for the wheels, might be going down the ultralight route instead of powder coating the existing ones... amusingly/horrifyingly depending on perspective the front tyres are date coded 2010, so needless to say they're going in the bin.
Admittedly this might all seem a bit "low budget Max Power magazine" but it's worth remembering i was somewhere around 18-21 when i first wanted a TF so it's definitely bringing that side of me out.

I would be the last person to advise against a low coolant sensor from our renown bassist, but do ensure your car requires one. If you feel under the header tank & you find a cable & connector, you already have a factory fitted unit.
If you disconnect the plug (depress the clip & hope for the best), the next bit is a “I can’t remember which way to test situation” but it’s either going to indicate when open circuit, or by shorting the connections the warning will show.
This will prove the system, you might need someone to check the dashboard lights whilst you fiddle.
Can anyone help with the open/short circuit conundrum, or maybe “Out Kid” could fill us in, once verified.

Somebody mentioned that if you have the hazard warning light on the instrument cluster (rather than just the indicator symbols) then you don't have the coolant alarm (as that's where they put the coolant warning light) so suspect that's the case, i'll have a grope around under the tank though when i get a moment to double check.

On OEM low coolant alarm you need to make short circuit from black to green/black wire in order to trigger the dash light.

Having now fitted Bruce's LCA kit I can confirm it's a really great package, seems like there's very little to go wrong and it's incredibly easy to fit thanks to well written instructions with useful photos to boot.
I know absolutely nothing about working on cars and am just figuring things out as I need to with the help of the fine people on this forum but thanks to those instructions It only took me around 90 minutes and that includes the fact that I discovered having XPower hoops installed makes getting the engine cover off a much bigger pain in the backside, this meant I was able to use the extra time I'd allocated to the task to instead fit my newly painted spoiler and even had time to swap out the chrome lighter socket for a usb charger (rather than a plug in adapter) also removing the chrome ashtray for a black one. All in all a very productive day.
If you don't have a coolant alarm Bruce's kit is definitely the way to go, get it done and enjoy peace of mind.
