Cobber thanks for the comment. Problem: no light in the boot, festoon, and underside mirror. Even the clock doesn't work. And yes, I pulled out the fuses F7 and F8 and inspected them thoroughly. For security I changed them with new ones. Also checked for corrosion, but all that is dry and clean. But..., maybe the problem is F12. So I will look at that later on.

Ok one thing to check any time there is electrical gremlins to do with the boot you should check the wiring loom the runs up the boot lid hinge this is vulnerable to damage inside the conduit tubing.  And can be the cause of some strange shit

There can be few of our cars that haven’t experienced loom problem & it does cause mysterious anomalies, you only need to look back around a week ago to find a post which hinged around this loom.
As Cobb’s has said have a look at that & I’ll have a look at the circuit diagram to see if there’s a common denominator.

Load space lamp, mirror lamps & footwell lamps are on fuse 3 in the passenger compartment fuse board, as is the clock. That should be your focus of attention.

"Houston, we have light again". So it's F12 a 15A fuse. And yes, the fuse was melted down. Oh, the older eyes, less 'divine' and flexible body, in a dark garage, fiddling with a flashlight, prevented me from reading the fuse diagram with symbols and abbreviated text properly. All works well now, including the clock. Someone enlightened me, so case closed.
For your info, it's about a TF from 2002 LHD. Fuses are situated under the steering column.

Fuse 12! The wiring diagram shows that circuit on F3, is your car on the pektron electronics or the Lucas? The thumbnail of the car shows a tf, I assumed it would be a pektron car in which case it would be 3, on the Lucas system, as you have found out, it’s 12.
Great stuff.

We’ll that all adds up, as to whether you are better off with the Lucas system is a moot point. There are certain aspects of the Lucas which could profit the Pektron & visa versa.
I am of the opinion that the earlier system is more robust & possibly truer to the modular concept.
I have had both systems & am more relaxed with the Lucas, although this opinion is often derided by those who prefer a greater perceived reliability of other manufacturers.
What these naysayers don’t seem to take into account the shear volume & weight of Lucas manufactured items used globally in the automotive industry & since the industry began.
A “Lucas hot spot”, where the wire has melted is invariably due to the car manufacturer specifications rather than Lucas choosing/ making a bad component.
Accountants looking to save coppers in manufacturer can cost the company tens of thousands of pounds by requiring a brassed steal connector instead of a brass connector which has been tin plated.
Anyway, I’ve done some truly awful things to Lucas systems & have only had the failures I duly deserve.
Damp can adversely affect the Pektron, I pulled a one touch window controller out of a car & it was wet through. After a good drying out it worked & I’ll be fitting it shortly.
The trouble with this bit is, the control module I dried out was made by Pektron. Keep that’s just between the two of us, if Cobber find out he’ll have a piss take field day at my expense.

The fusebox diagram is a photocopy of the Rosetta Stone.
Completely meaningless to me. I resort to the guide on this site.
Not surprised you could not find the fault.
