battery drain..... 8 years 2 months ago #166431

Ok, so replaced the battery in November after the old one died and wouldn't hold a charge.

The wee beastie has been showing signs that its not right for the last few weeks, when finally giving up today.

Any advice as where the fault could be? The battery gets disconnected when not in use. And the car is driven twice a week at least.

She's been running like a sack of loose spanner this week, I wonder if it's related. Due a service next week and the dreaded mot.

Thanks for the help as all ways.

Unbolt the negative to bod lead from the inner wing. Clean all the contact areas and apply a little petroleum jelly, then tighten back up. It get corrosion at that point which raises the resistance, and causes a drain. If it's not that then it could be another circuit doing it. You can get an amp tester that plugs in to the fuses one at a time, and you can see if there is any current once the car goes to sleep:
