ODB 2 Reader 9 years 6 months ago #153057

Mornin' all.

Bought a WiFi ODB2 plug in reader for my TF (03) to connect to my iPhone (Product says it will work with the iPhone)
So far I am unable to get it to connect. :nonod:
Not sure if the unit is faulty or the ODB socket in the car.
Does the socket in the car have a separate fuse which may have blown?
Don't have a second vehicle to check against.
Trying to connect to Dashcommand for iPhone.
Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers,

John

Sorry John, I don't think I can help with this one as I have a bluetooth OBD and Torque on my android phone. Do you need to pair the reader to the phone? You need to do this with my setup.
Hopefully someone with a similar setup will be along soon.

Hi John
I bought a scanner last week. I think if you plug the unit in the red power light should show that there is no fault with the supply from your car. I have a Samsung android and found that the website did not explain the procedures to suit my phone. I however found that you need to make sure the bluetooth and gps are on and then make sure your phone pairs with the scanner. I have eventually got the menu of all dials etc and found the fault codes by pressing my phones shared button. Hope this helps. The Torque website has more information, which might help. Good Luck
Brian

Thanks for your reply.

Mine is WiFi because the iPhone won't use the same O/S - Bluetooth as the Android phones.

When it stops raining I'll check the power light is on.

Cheers,

John

Thanks David,

Because my phone is an iPhone it has to use WiFi.

Pairing should be straight forward if the phone can recognise the ODB interface.

I still think I've been sold a pup.

I'll keep trying.

Maybe I can find someone who will let me try to connect to their car.

Thanks again,

John

I think it's fuse 15 , for the radio and interior lights. if this has blown you won't get a feed to the OBD plug.

Hmm.

Fuse 3 Not used no fuse in it.
Still doesn't work with ignition on or off.

Back to the drawing board in daylight.

Thanks to all for their input.

Cheers,

John

I have just doubled checked with my handbook, I have a 2004 TF . Passenger compartment fuse box-Fuse number 3-15A - Interior lights, clock, audio unit, diagnostic socket.
I had the same problem. I bought a hand held scanner plugged it in and got nothing, checked the scanner on another car worked fine. After scratching my head remembered the radio fuse had blown (water ingress) Just as somewhere to start I changed the fuse and solved the problem.
