Has anybody noticed the growing trend for pretend exhaust tail pipes?
I'm sure this trend was started by the Honda Civic (happy to be corrected)

but seems to be gaining favour with other mainstream manufactures

and premium brands alike

So are they doing it to save money, or because they are fed up with lazy owners never cleaning the tail pipes and bringing the look of the car down?

At least they won't need upgrading. But I'm sure they must cost an arm and a leg for the unfortunate driver that gives you a tail end shunt.

I started the trend 7 yrs ago when I had my exhaust back box made to MY spec and I just have one real pipe and one dummy pipe [ it gave a good increase in torque ]
It cut out the 180 degree turn in the system so the gases flowed better

Mine have gone a bit rusty and no amount of cleaning will bring them back so im planning on putting some of the fake tail pipes over them to make it look better and shiny again.

when googling for more pics of 'pretend tail pipes' there was this picture of a man in lingerie abusing his Land Rover's tail pipe...

Well seeing as how like the people who pay a small fortune for these new cars the manufacturers all follow like sheep once one does it they all follow suit. of course seeign as how most cars are now all basically the same this was obviously going to happen.

Just another good reason not to buy a new car IMHO. The other is that most of they look utterly crap!
