Sensitive throttle... 9 years 6 months ago #151183

Hello guys!

On my mgf being as gentle as humanly possible on the accelerator I go from idle to 1800 or 2000 rpm. Nothing in between.
I've reset the tps.
I've even done it buy hand and it still does the same!
I've also dug out my spare throttle body and it does the same (worse idle to 2000)
I've also changed the inlet gaskets too thinking air leak.
It idles fine. It drives great (apart from sounding like I'm trashing it when setting off)
Any ideas as I'm getting stumped.

Sticking throttle cable perhaps?

Good shout. Try disconnecting the cable from the throttle body.

Well fbog it wasn't the throttle cable as it still does it with it disconnected :( any other ideas folks?
Could the iacv play a part in this?

So found another tb 48mm alloy. So with that plumbed on its perfect, control from idle to beyond.
So I swapped the tps over to the 52mm tb and.. well its the same as before. Idles fine, feather the throttle and it's at 1800rpm, no less. :S confusing.

When you had the 52 off did you check the smoothness of operation of the butterfly?

Idle air control valve a possibilty we had a zr in with the same problem last week.Replacing the IACV solved it.
Only four bolts, the bottom two torx bolts a bit awkward to get to when the manifold is bolted back to head, but still achievable.
Replace the red o ring gasket if you buy a second hand one.
