Hi

Does anyone on here know someone who can make me a new front bumper (pref in Derbyshire area).

Some B*****d decided to put lovely big dent in mine last week and pull it off the main body of the car, and the whole spoiler now has a crack across the front.

The problem I have is the bumper isn't a factory one, it was made for my TF when the old owner had the front redone and I don't know who he used. So I either need someone to do a bloody good fix job or remake the whole bumper.

My insurance company have been really good (thank god I told them it was customized when I insured it) and have offered me a cash in leiu payment to get it fixed myself. The garage it is at now can't fix it and they want to put a factory one back on which I would rather not have.

Please help

it`s the standard tf front with air vents filled in and so we've been told a fibre glass spoiler fitted and made to look like one piece.
the original owner put pictures up on other sites to show it being done.

Might just be my I pad.. But I can't see your pic..

If it's all fibre glass repairing it is easy.. DIY possible.. But any decent body shop should be able to do it..

Mine was a Motobuild fibre glass LE 500 and I filled the top vents and did some custom work and I'm only a DIY'er..

Halfords sell fibre glass matting kits..

But suspect the whole bumper will need to be re-ms prayed by a pro..

Hope BG doesn't mind me linking this from an earlier post of his.

An after pic would be useful too buddy. Might ultimately be easier to build a new one though than repair the old. However it sounds like the garage just can't be bothered with doing the work you want. I'd offer help with it too but I'm also on the wrong side of the Irish Sea. Shouldn't be too hard to do yourself if it came down to it, just as DD said.

Either way though, hope you get it sorted.

Looks like a standard TF bumper with the grills filled, the front bib is an M99 unit

As DD says this should be a reasonable DIYer or half decent bodyshop easy job. B)

If the bumper is all fibre glass I'd repair it.. Not hard to do..

First major job is determine what it's made of.. Plastic bumpers are easy to twist (2 people holding one at each end and twist opposite directions) fibre glass us much stiffer

Drill a small hole in the base.. Black.. It's plastic.. White its fibre glass

Inside surfaces smooth if it plastic.. Textured if its fibre glass

I'd offer to give you a hand if you weren't so far away

Admin note:-

You will have to reduce picture size to around 400k to get them to upload as an attachment. We have a glitch at present.

Not the end of the world, lucky the bonnet wasn't creased because then you would have problems. As has already been said standard tf bonnet with the front skirt added on. Filling the vents in is easy enough and is something i am currently doing at the moment to mine.

So get yourself a new front bumper, a new front splitter either from ebay or from: http://www.moto-build.com/mgfparts.html then find yourself a bodyshop. A quick google search for body shop derby:

http://clementsbodyshop.com/

http://www.larklandsarc.co.uk/

http://derbybodyshop.co.uk/

I have never used any of these companies (i'm in Lancashire) but it should give you a starting point. Hope that helps, you could also try contacting the previous owner who was a member on dot.org if you want the work carrying about the original person who did it.
