Fitting a Janspeed manifold /PRT Pipes, on a tf 9 years 7 months ago #150144

Hello
Have come here after chatting to Allan (DD).
In need of some advice. Have fitted a Janspeed 4-1 manifold With the original heat shield. The problem is, the coolant PRT pipes touch the manifold.I have used cable ties to hold it off and about an inch away from the manifold. Is this normal? Is there a common fix to this problem.
Thank you.
Terrible.

I know it's not much use but this isn't an issue I have come across before.

There should be a good gap between the manifold and any piping..

Perhaps the cooling pipe was installed incorrectly at some time in the past and the direction could be moved away from the manifold by adjusting it where it leaves the top of block?

I know the head gasket has been don,. so the pipe work maybe wrong. The problem is further down just above the sub frame. I will check the pipe route. Thank you.

I remember when fitting my PRT that I was concerned about the water pipes getting too close to the exhaust.
I fabricated a simple metal heat shield that I attached via one of the manifold to down pipe bolts just to be sure of no contact.
I don't have a photo unfortunately.
Obviously, in your case you don't have those bolts but any bolt could be used to anchor a heat shield.

I was thinking the same. Spent last night considering heat shields designed for motorbike exhausts or to make my own , that attaches to the down / primary pipe.

Had same problem, I purchased a couple of universal pipes off some car spares website that you can bend into shape. They are reinforced inside with coiled wire so very strong and easily bent. I run the pipe out of the way and cable tied it at various places. The pipes don't kink and seem good quality.

Yes, have seen those pipes before. Didn't think of them for this problem. Do you remember the size and length you bought ?
I can see more expense on the horizon, If I'm draining the coolant SS coolant pipes may as well be fitted.

Yes its my engine,i assume you have noticed the pipes going over the subframe instead of underneath as the subframe is on a pallet and the frame is touching this it avoid crushing them.
Also The alternator looks dirty.OCD I am going to sort that out

Does anybody also change the thermostat housing with the prt? i did.
