Rattle from the pulley area 9 years 8 months ago #149505

Good Day to One and All

A rattle has started in the pulley area of my tf, I have removed the alternator belt and the noise is still there, water is flowing back in to the header tank,

I had the H/G done at Easter this year along with the tension pulley, no rattle from the pump, there is a small amount of water loss from then until now

Could the water pump be on its way out???? or is there some other item that could be to blame :bang:

Thanking you for any help that you can give

Check the pulley is tight, they sometimes work loose.

Did you change the water pump with the HG?

Hi David

Thank you for your reply

No we did not replace the W/P when the H/G was done as it was supposed to have been done when I got the car, as for the pulley would I be right in saying the crank pulley??

Yes. The crank pulley locates with a key onto the end of the crankshaft. The pulley can work loose especially after work has been done. Usually the pulley wears the key away and starts to rotate/rattle independently of the shaft.
