Cam belt help needed 10 years 1 month ago #140925

I had a little spare time today so started to do a cam belt change with help from the how tos on here.
The first thing was to drain and flush the cooling system as we`re changing the under floor pipes. Then lined up the marks on the fly wheel pulley.

and these

Then I undid the fly wheel pully, it was very tight but let go eventually.
I ended up with this and hope it`s good so far?

This is where I get stuck.
How do I set the tensioner on this?

I have seen how to set a manual tensioner somewhere but cant find it now could someone point me in the right direction please.

I have done this job and just followed the destructions in the Rave manual.
It is available to download here http://www.the-t-bar.com/community/downloads/viewcategory/6-rave-cds or from the drop down menu under community.
Its tight in there isn't it  You have the new belt on??
Hope I have helped, let us know how it goes especially with those nice pics taken in a tight spot.

Hi Davem,
Thanks for the help.
Yes it is very tight in there, a bit like trying to decorate your hall thru a letter box.
I will try to get finished tomorrow work and weather permitting.

I had planned on finishing this job today but no such luck.
First I undid the small tensioner bolt it`s very hard to get to and was tighter then I expected, The allen bolt was very, very tight but access is o.kish.
The easy job should have been to remove the engine mounting bolts but this took 2hrs, lots of tea, lots of plus gas, the right combination of extension bars a big beaker bar and lots of :bang:
The sum total of 3 hrs work was removing 4 bolts :coat:
I`m off to the pub....

Almost done I just need to fit the alternator belt, top cam belt cover and check the cooling system for leaks and air.

Rain stopped play.

Manual tensioner bolt, does the Hex Allen bolt, turn CLOCK WISE, OR ANTI CLOCKWISE to loosen.

I'm stuck on this. I've tried both way's, no good no movement.

is there such a thing as a Hex headed socket attachment??

Bolt is a standard thread, so anti clockwise to loosen.
I have a special socket that takes Allen bits, star drive etc. It's invaluable.
