Invalid or non-existent item ID.Does anyone know if you can fit one of these and use the same wires from the original one ?

Forget the cost I think there is an error there :P

Hi Tibs,

The information from the original temperature sender by the oil filter sends information to the engine ECU as well as to the gauge; it would be unlikely that the resistance values for the gauges are the same.

The LCD gauge comes with an 1/8" gas sender; again it would be unlikely that it would match the correct values required for the engine ECU plus the threads on the original sender look bigger; more like 1/4" bsp.

You would have to fit it as a standalone unit, mounting the sensor somewhere in the oil gallery of the engine block or drill and tap 1/8" bsp into the sump below the oil level.

Brian.

Digital gauges are a stupid idea any way, in particular auxiliary gauges.
The benefit of the old style analogue style gauges is the you can scan them all with a quick glance. You don't have to figure out if the numerical value indicated on each gauge is a good or bad thing, you just check that the needles are in vaguely in about the right place. You should quickly notice if one is in or approaching the red zone, then you can worry about the indicated numerical value.

Good point Cobber, I just wanted to replace the clock, and thought about doing both to keep them looking the same, was going to replace the clock with a Volt Meter

A nice old fashioned analog volt gauge will do you just fine then.
You can get them with a cream face here, so I guess you can get 'em over there too.

All voltmeters need to work is volts, they don't care what brand of car makes 'em.
As for will it fit? the gauge is a standard 52mm, so any 52mm gauge should fit unless it has some stupidly designed bulky bezel as a few do.
