Immobiliser? 10 years 10 months ago #123753

I recently dismantled most of my 98F MPI and have just re-assembled a lot of it.
It now has SS exhaust, polybushes, Gaz adjustables, home made individualising valves, new radiator, SS underbelly pipes, new heater pipes in tunnel, 52mm throttle body, cold air feed.

I have removed the SRS ECU, all of the yellow spaghetti, the seats, great swathes of floor.......... anyway I digress.

Popped battery in today, ignition turns on, fuel pump primes but absolutely nothing happens when turning the key to start it.
Turned the engine over with a metal thing across the starter terminals.

I'm pretty sure that it's something to do with the immobiliser / battery being out of the car for weeks / me being a dolt.

I'd welcome some suggestions.

Thank you,
Ian

First check your fob will unlock the doors. If not resynch by locking the door with the key and press unlock on fob until it works.
The immobiliser usually gives a little alarm( woowoo) if it is still on.
Check the starter circuit.

Thanks for not fobbing me off.
I'll check out the totally anonymous buttons on the fob shortly.

Still nothing.
Will try some different expletives in the morning. Possibly was too polite today.

If the fob is unlocking the door then the immobiliser should be off.
As I said the immobiliser will make a woowoo type noise if it's still on when you try to start the car.
Does the alarm red light in the dash go off when you unlock the car with the fob?
