Mike Satur bell crank upgrade, pin alignment? 10 years 11 months ago #117403

I have fitted the Mike Satur bell crank upgrade yesterday, I thought it was going to be easy and to be fair it was, apart from the roll pin (I don't seem to be very skilled with pins, perhaps it's because I work in an office pushing buttons on a keyboard most of the day). I think it has made the gear selection more precise. Saying that it still has a bit of slop when a gear is selected.

I have managed to get the roll pin in, but it is still sticking out by a little. I guess it has just not quite gone through the other side properly. Maybe it is not aligned up properly. I have used a parallel pin punch, with an 8 and 9mm socket bit on to get it in, in the first place.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to possibly align it and get it through?

Thanks for the advice David. I have tried that and unfortunately this didn't budge it.

Here is a picture of it:

I have also tried mole grips (inspired by David's suggestion), but I couldn't get access.

Any suggestions would be greatfully received?

Can you get a small g cramp or similar in to squeeze the bugger in?
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I would be tempted to pack out the reverse side with a suitable sized wooden block to prevent the gear shaft bending and use a bigger hammer on the drift.

Ouch!

A screw thread in a clamp would exert more force. ;)
Try jacking a car up with a hammer...... :yesnod:
