water in engine

Hi all i need some advice, i posted this on another forum so sorry if you have seen it.
i had a water leak for a week or so not much maybe a ltr all week, tried to top it up today car was jacked up at back, i put in about 3lts then water started coming out of exhaust and the oil dip stick was full of water.
i feel such a prat.
well i drained the oil or should i say water. i know the head gasket has gone now at least, but i need to get her home can i replace oil and drive about 2 miles. i have not tried to turn her over yet.
in your opinion is she dead, or how bad do you think she is. before i start spending more money on it.
i am in too minds do i sell it spares or repair or have it fixed. she is a 2001 vvc not in bad condition about 80k on clock now, i bought her 6 months ago for £900.
regards
any advice on what i should do much appreciated.

Fix it.. It doesn't cost that much.. How much have you enjoyed driving the car?

Stevie,
I would not chance running the car if the leak is that bad!
Get Russell(MGRover solutions) or Jon Norris(Rough Luck) to fix the gasket where it is. I'm sure Jon will be able to fit you in at short notice.

Where is the car?

I know Jon was offering cheaper than that, but...
You in a recovery scheme (AA, RAC, green flag?) They could get you home.
The problem is if you have water coming out the exhaust it's pretty certain you have water in the cylinders, if you try to start it, you could end up with a whole row of bent valves and damaged pistons.

Any mayo? Did you lose much water on the way home? Did you try having a chat with Daz, one of our sponsors, yet? He rebuilds these cars for a living and might be able to give you a few pointers.

It is possible that it is the inlet manifold gasket.

Hi Leigh, no i have not spoken to David yet.
no mayo but the water had mixed with the oil as i said. water loss i don't know i towed it back.
looks like a water stain under inlet manifold though. would this let water into engine ?
i think a water leak at exhaust manifold also, but that could have been because it was full of water!
