I haven't done it myself but stainless steel exhausts claim to add a few extra bhp. If you're opening up the flow with this mod then I see no real reason to dispute it over the other claims.

If it sounds better, what have you got to lose? It would make a nice little 'how to' guide for someone who fancies doing one with a good camera. :yesnod:

In theory the valve opens above certain revs anyway, it's just a trick to pass a noise limit.

It's not going to give any increase in power or torque, but it should stop the car blowing out of one pipe at idle.
If a jobs worth doing, it's worth overdoing

I wanted both pipes blowing so tried to do a similar thing by removing the pipe from the end of the valve and blocking the end of the pipe with a self tapper as advised on .org, but it seems my valve is seized closed (arm in the up position) as I've tried to move the valve by hand and it's not budging...So I'm waiting until the zorst gives out now so I can enjoy a nice shiny one ;)

The trouble is that if it has seized, then you're just using one tailpipe all the time.

I know, that's another reason for wanting it open all the time. :(

We still have the original Zorst on and with all it's rust it's not gonna last much longer - I've forewarned Paula that it's gonna need changing soon and she's OK with us getting a shiny one as it's going to last longer...But I've not told her about my plans for the tone changing yet though!
Although at the mileage and speeds she drives she prob wont notice until I use the loud pedal! ;)

You need to blank off the little pipe.

It's a daily driver and I can't afford to break anything on purpose just to get a new replacement this month!
