My MGF 2001 door lock locks fine but when i open it it makes a horrible noise. Does anyone know how to solve this???

Listening to that I would say that the central locking mech is not long for this world: sounds like the gnashing of worn teeth to me.

Snap I'd agree get on eBay one can be yours for about 20 quid max

Agreed, there is a little plastic spindle that breaks off inside the lock and causes those horrendous noises.
Replace it as soon as possible, as it will fail sooner than later. In the mean time don't double lock the car as if it fails double locked you can't get the doors open.

Had to replace mine on passenger side last year, it had been disconnected for the same reason when o took it apart the cog's are plastic and the teeth were wearing a little thin if that helps
