If its an inductive load then momentary make/break via a dodgy earth return can induce a transient high value. Tenuous I know.........

It's Ohm's law mate........ ;)

Poor earth will increase resistance, and we all know what that means!

Erm, for a given constant voltage a higher resistance will surely decrease the current? That's the Ohms Law I know......

It's been a long day!

Stands corrected and sulks off!

Bit of a brain-fart there!

Yep, them brain-farts can always creep up on you. ;)

A breakdown in an earth connection would usually lead to an increase in noise producing false signals or a decrease in return paths leading to incorrect info.

If you lived around here I'd suspect mouse damage.

I had an ecu light on the Sportage come on 2 days running in the same spot pulling up hill from the village. I left it with the Kia dealer (7 year warranty!) and when I returned the mechanics were having a fit of laughter...they'd pulled off the plastic engine cover to find all the insulation had been chewed including some of the wires- result was a monentary short when applying power. A week later the washers failed to squirt and when I took off the under bonnet insulation. I was able to evict 4 mice with a pressure washer - they were resident in the under bonnet strengthening tubes!

Meanwhile one of them ate through the plastic brake resevoir on the Panda....not at all amusing.

I've removed as much tasty foam insulation as I can, smeared everything with white grease, wrapped vunerable wiring in a thin metal gauze and fitted sonic deterients under the bonnet...also used poison too...so if you find some chewed wiring, mice could be the cause.

Hi guys and gals,

Been a bit absent of late, but lots to report.....

Firstly, it looks like the fuse blowing was down to the fact that my lambda sensor was in several different pieces......... So I fitted a new one, along with:

A new MLS head gasket
New tensioner
New Cambelt
45mm throttle body
Induction kit
New exhaust flexi pipe

And she is running great!

Fingers crossed she stays that way........

More later when I'm not so knackered.

Cheers guys, so far so good, first commuting week to work starts tomorrow since all the work, so fingers crossed......

As for an afternoons work..... After buying an air impact wrench to remove the crank pulley bolt, the engine mount that is in the middle of the Cambelt run (grrrrrrrr) with two bolts that won't come out without said impact wrench, the inlet manifold that refused to come out of the engine bay, the rusted gnarly jubilee clips on the under floor Coolant pipes and several other issues that I came across, then yeah, about 6 hours lol.

Oh, and mustn't forget the gross ineptitude and stupidity of the fool that fitted the head gasket the right way, but the shim the wrong way...........

Didn't notice till I topped it up with coolant and it poured out of the front of the head....... :slapme: only took 4 hours to whip it all apart and put back together though in the end :broon:

All seems good now, so next week I'll treat her to a good old wash and polish :)

Cheers,

Lee
