It's good to see just a fuse was needed to fix the car Lee.I though towing our cars with the rear wheels on the ground was a nono.

Hi David,

Where do you get the fuses that light up, these sound great for checking if the MG gets you in the dark and you wan to check which fuses have blown if any.

BigPhil

I like my glowing fuses!

hi all, update time i fear :(

so, mrs groovy got in the car this morning, i had already started it and warmed up the mayo in the sump for her :P

she got 3 mins down the road, and............. nothing :-?

i got the kids in the espace, drove over to her, checked the fuse, blown.

aha! thinks I, i'll pop a new one in and problem solved.......

nope, blew that as soon as the ignition was turned to pos 2.

so i took her to work, and then tried it again. stayed ok till i started the car, and then blew again

so, i will have a bit of a look tomorrow, but what do we think? could it be the fuel pump?

for now i've bought the bike back into service, i had to free up the front brake caliper and charge the battery, but hey, its transport :yesnod:

cheers all,

Lee

If the same fuse keeps blowing then you're going to have to check everything on that fuse and the wiring involved. First thing to try is disconnecting the fuel pump and see if the fuse blows when you try to start it. If it still blows you can discount the fuel pump etc. etc.
Otherwise - Auto electrician time...

my thoughts exactly david. first task, disconnect fuel pump. if fuse doesnt blow, reconnect it. if it then blows, fuel pump is the issue.

will grab my meter and see what the diagnosis is.

watch out for an update tomorrow afternoon :broon:

Last time I had a fault like that it was blowing the ECU fuse intermittently and killing the car it was on an F and it was the pre cat Lambda sensor. The wiring had melted on the exhaust and was shorting against it very now and then.

Might be worth a check.

I can have a look for you bud if you get stuck.

Another thing I've found on these sh*te MEMS systems before is the ECU earth breaks down.

Andy

I wouldn't think an earth breaking down would cause a fuse to blow.
