Silver Fern Marathon Rally - 50 years of MGB 11 years 6 months ago #84693

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd share this, the Silver Fern Rally is due to start this weekend in New Zealand, one of the few marathon events left for historic rally cars. Over 3200 km total in 7 days, with over 1000 km of closed road special stages (which is down a bit - the 2006 event was 4000km total and 1400 km of SS). More info here http://www.silverfernrally.co.nz/

Along with the usual hordes of Escorts entered, Dad has his MGB entered again (we did the 2006 and 2008 events but missed 2010), to celebrate 50 years of the MGB. Believed to be the last MGB in full international competition - entered the 1985 Rally of New Zealand - last year of FIA homologation for the MGB - it is also by far the oldest car entered. More info on the car and their progress here: http://www.mgparts.co.nz/about-us/our-exploits/2012-silver-fern-rally-1/

This is the one big downside to moving to Germany for a couple of years - normally it would be me codriving and not my brother.
