If any member spends 700 quid on a head gasket, point them in my direction please :)

I have this fool proof pyramid scheme that just can't lose!

Is that the same one you tried to sell to the Egyptians?

Discounting the feud between the dealers the root of the problem is that our cars
(well...yours in the UK) are undervalued. 700 quid doesn't sound so bad for a Boxster
headgasket. If F/TFs were selling for 3000.+ Jon, Russell, Daryl et al could make a healthy profit
rather than work their bags off just make ends meet.

When I bought my F in May 2011 I checked the paperwork and found that a well known MG specialist had replaced the head gasket in 2009. without this I would not have bought the car. 3 months later I started losing coolant. The garage I now use who specialize in Race/Rally preparations of MG ZRs diagnosed HGF.

When they stripped the engine they found that the liners had dropped and were flush with the block as though they had been machined level. They skimmed the block to get the correct liner height in addition to the head and replaced the gasket, bolts, cambelt and water pump. The clutch was nearly new or that would have been replaced as well. At the same time I got them to fit stainless steel coolant pipes.
the bill came to £900.

Was this reasonable?
