Does this just annoy me?

Does this just annoy me? was created by gavang1

Not mentioning any names here.

I've just looked at a used dealer website, purely out of interest and noticed a quote they had made.

"please note: when buying these cars always get proof that the head gasket has been upgraded recently and the bill is at least £700+. Anything under it has not been done properly"

Am I too sensitive or is that just a little bit naughty?

No you're not being too sensitive.:nonod:
And they are just showing how little car dealers actually know.:yesnod:

When did price guarantee quality of work?

There are 2 main mgf dealers in peteborough this statement comes from one and is directed at the other.
over the past few months i have been told the same story about the 2 of them that cars have been bought with supposedly everything done only to find out that it had not !!!!

Exactly. Jon Norris has done some top notch work on my car and I think that quote is an insult to people like him and their skills. Grrrrr

Name and shame the dealer website .... we can then e-mail them en-masse quoting Rough Luck, MGRover Solutions, Dave& Kayleigh, MGF Reborn etc, etc. and put them straight. :drive: :broon:

Well I'm gonna throw a tiger amongst the pigeons here, I run a garage and I wouldn't put anything with a k series engine on my sales pitch even though I own a TF, the problem comes from the fact that you only make small profits on cheap cars like I sell, so for example my TF cost £1400, I sell it for £2000, it then comes back under warranty because the head gasket has gone, so I spend another £300 sorting it, all of a sudden it makes no financial sence to sell it.

I don't think anyone would disagree with your policy.

What is not understood is a statement that if you don't spend over £700 on a head gasket it hasn't been done right.

I could write a long list a lot of head gasket jobs costing £700- £1600 that were a complete and utter botch up!
