Noticed on my TF rear drivers side corner there is a weird metal thing near the exhaust. It looks like a ball with a metal pin..

Sorry didnt pic it yesterday :-?

What is it and do I need to worry about it when changing the exhaust? The MGF didnt have one on it so havnt a clue what this is or does.

I'll pic it later.

I think this is a vacuum switch that operates a gate on the R/H pipe for noise reasons , have read about it on here somewhere Ben.

Pic would help!
OEM TF exhaust has a strap around silencer that locates it tight to the cat: it may be the strap fastener for that?

Thay gave up with that exhaust valve thing by 2005!!
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Its meant to restrict noise at lower revs and open up at higher revs IIRC. Called the EVC.

Have a look here:

don't forget to block off the rubber tube a long screw should do, and secure it with a cable tie somewhere.
but remember theres a flappy thing inside the pipe just like the carburetta flappy thing and this will rattle till it gets fed up and passes onto your CAT where it will stop may block things or pass into silencer

don't know this glass roof thingie, but two sink plungers?

Undo all the clips on the inside then lift it up, remember it is heavier now, so you will need something to hold it there, then just remove all the carpets etc if that was what you were asking !!
