front suspension creaking?? 11 years 9 months ago #62495

while out driving this evening the mgf has stated making a worrying noise from the o/s front suspension, i pulled over and looked as best icould and found nothing obvious :-? ... it seems worse at slow speed and at first sounded like the spare wheel was moving under the bonnet ( a sort of rubber on metal sound :-? :-? ) if the wheels are pointing straight ahead and i bounce the front of the car it can be heard , but if wheels are turned left or right it doesnt do it :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? any ideas anyone :-? :-?

Your best bet is to take the wheel off, put the hub on an axle stand so it is taking the weight and recreate the noise while listening to all the joints and bushes etc.

This is how I found my creak and it was the nearside front upper ball joint.

:woohoo: silent running!! :woohoo: .. nipples greased :spank: ...and a good clean up and spray with silicon and all is well :woohoo:

apart from noticing a bit of play and a split in upper ball joint rubber, and the inner edge of the tyre is wearing thin that is

ordered new ball joint, and now looking for 185 55 15 tyres at sensible prices :broon:

Inner edge tyre wear is usually low ride height on an F.
