Which ECU? 11 years 9 months ago #60287

I have a mk1 VVC (1999) which I thought would have a 1.9 MEMS ecu, however recent info has told me the VVC has MEMS2.
The ECU has a black and a red socket.
The car has a manual mileometer, i.e. not digital.

I can't see the markings on the top of the ECU but it does have a big cross on the face showing towards the engine.
How can I tell without taking the ECU out of the car?

Home to black Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 V6 Q4 ,green MGF VVC and red MG Maestro T16.

Like this?

Can you perhaps get a camera underneath, where you eyes can't go, and take a pic of those numbers? (That's how I photographed the tb engraving).

The VIN finally can tell the truth without removing anything.

All MK1 VVCs had MEMS2j ECUs. The give away is that the ECU has two large connector plugs on the side rather than the one plug on the MEMS 1.9
