I found heavy duty clear contact cut to size and placed on both sides of the screen to be the most effective and the longest lasting

Rolled up towel, or that stuff they use in water aerobics, so the screen will always fold round it ..

Keep an eye out for anyone breaking their car and get the screen, or temp fix ..

With this weather it won't matter when you are driving ;)

When I was in the 99p shop saw one of these water aerobic things and got one: http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&q=woggle&ix=seb&ion=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1680&bih=938&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=5849160239062586530&sa=X&ei=TlduT6uaMYPc8gONkrzADQ&ved=0CE8Q8wIwAQ

But.... Where do you propose this goes as an anti window cracking device in future? Just want to make sure that when my new window is in it stays that way for a while.

That cracking / popping noise made me sad :( And the Money Grabbing curse started again.

Always just check the rear screen is warmed up and supple before thinking of lowering the hood. When you do put the hood down, if you don't unzip the rear screen as recommended, gently help the screen curve as it goes down. I very rarely unzip the rear screen before getting topless and have not had any problems.

What Paul said above ^.

Were you in the car when you dropped the roof and it cracked? It's best if you do it from outside the car following Paul's instructions for safety.

I never unzip and I have it off more than most (hehe naughty!).

Yes i was in the car and just did a push up with a bit of amazement how fast the roof flew above my head and landed with a crack in it.

Another lesson learnt the hard way I think !

You can do that with a glass screen but I would always recommend guiding it back from outside the car with a plastic screen. You can ensure no creases. :yesnod:
