May be these other people have just been unlucky, but I have to say from my own experiance MG's way of doing things is not up to the standards of other cars makers I have bought new from. If I have ever needed a part for my Renaults, Fords, Vauxhalls then it is there next day at the latest, I have not had to make countless phone calls or wait weeks. Some of the problems have been down to bad dealerships, I went through 3 before I found a good one (Summitt) and I know of several owners who have sold their cars because of the way they were treated by MG. Most of them will not say on open forum but the fact is they were not happy and would not buy MG again. I know one enthusiast who says "apart from having 3 resprays on her (not full) and a few bits replaced she has been fine" Now a non enthusiast would be going nuts abut their car having the paing fall off after a few weeks!
Reverse sensors are a good point to use, I have never had a problem with reverse sensors on any car other than my LE500 and TF85, we should not have to fix them ourselves, they should be replaced and the problems sorted by MG. May be we do it because we are MG enthusists, may be we get fed up trying to get MG to sort it properly, either way we should not have to fix them!
The problem is that not every one who buys these cars are enthusiasts of the MG brand and will not tollerate it or return to the brand.
Regarding paint issues, I have now owned several water based paint cars and have only had problems with my LE500 and TF85.
I do not want to come over has anti MG, I am not and have owned 15 of them, but they should look after their customers properly. The problems I had with my LE500 for instance was a constant source of fun for the people I work with and I know for a fact it put everyone I work with off ever buying MG which is a shame.
