HELP - Hydragas loss without evidence 12 years 2 months ago #41917

Hope someone can help.

I've had my Trophy's hydragas pumped up twice in the last 3 weeks and the ride height drops within days.

I've had the wheels off on the side that drops (offside)and checked out the spheres and can't find any evidence of fluid leakage. Also checked from inside engine bay and front bonnet. The pipes all seem clean and dry, so I'm at a loss to where the fluid is going. The only bit of pipe I can't see is above the skid plate and there are no joints there.

Any ideas on what to do next??

Phil

if the top spheer is losing the gass hydrogen (i think) then the sphere fills with the oil so you end up with solid suspencion
sounds af if you need some new spheres which they dont make any more
but look for leaks again just in case

or the person who pumped the system did not do i correctly and added air which will compress
mad about cars and bikes :)
if it aint broke dont fix it :)

Hi Mark

Thanks for that. The garage is a Rover specialist that has a proper pump - and he's not a young guy! Hopefully he didn't let the apprentice loose on it.

The suspension has always been hard - I just thought Trophys were like that. Must have had some decent give though, as it passed it's MOT between being pumped again.

MGFN'TFBITZ claim a stock of Trophy spheres so hopefully they'll have some. Will have to get the garage to do the job though because of the pump.

Does sound like the Nitrogen in the top part of a sphere is going or has gone, which will cause it to sink again and give a very hard ride. or as Mark has said it was not pumped up properley. you do need someone with a pump to release the pressure (400 psi) and the fluid. There are a few new Trophy spheres around, but they are a bit like "hens teeth" or "rocking horse poo" ~ Give Jon Norris Rough Luck Racing a PM to see if he will come and do them for you. He is in Rutland and travels and will charge far less than the Rover dealership :yesnod: .
