Its a pity the photos of the jacking points early in this thread are no longer available. Does anyone have photos of the front and rear jacking points to save new members guessing ?

Front jacking point
Rear jacking point
Mid jacking point

I'm not very good at this sort of thing but it may help someone.

You’ll soon get used to their whereabouts after you’ve caught your head on them a few times. The scar tissue is worn as a badge of office.

I believe they deleted the front jacking point around the same time as they introduced the later alarm system. (Oval fob.)

That makes sense (the timing, not deleting the jacking point 😂)
Then mine should have it

Thank you, David!

It is a bit tricky to get far enough underneath to be sure BUT would be OK to jack, with a suitable block under the bottom central arm pivot?  It seems to be strongly braced.

I intend to make a cross beam to also pick up on the lower suspension ball joints so the whole will lift together.  Bad idea?

The thing is, its so low that you have to jack the car up to get to the jacking points.

Very true. That was a real struggle when the Mk1 MGF arrived with me with its completely depleted spheres. I ended up using a
scissor jack on both sills with planks of wood to spread the load, winding one and then the other just to get the body high enough to push a trolley jack under the jacking point.
I wasnt going to do that again so left it residing on 4 axle stands until the refilled spheres were ready for refitting.

I made up a pair of small wooden "ramps" to raise it the height of a thermalite block.   Made a lot of difference.

I jack the F and TF up on the sill jacking points with a trolley jack then use axle stands for support, I've not had any problems doing it this way. G.

I agree, I’ve only recently purchased a trolley jack. Until now I’ve jacked the car up with a scissors jack under the sills and then axle stands, without any drawbacks that I can see.

I plan to paint white the central jacking points (following somebody else’s advice) and lift the TF using them and the trolley jack.
