I have a lot of joy watching the original series, but as a captain it has to be Picard, James T is too Hammy!
The second generation suffered too much from the usual American fault of trying too hard to appeal to all social/racial/sexual groups. Oh, and I detested Wesley, little smart ass snot!

Yep. I have it on DVD. Classic, but then I liked mystery men too, both of which are outside of most peoples humour.
