Has anyone dismantled and serviced the engine bay cooling fan?
I have one that has started to “click” and I do not believe the blades are catching anything.

When i removed mine, the C-clip holding the fan on had rusted away, so I pressed the fan off the motor, cleaned everything up, repainted the body, reinstalled the fan and added a new C-clip.

I didn't try to dissasemble the motor

The engine cooling fan on my 135 had seized at some point and the first I knew about it was when it was on a ramp during it's MOT when the engine bay sensor became hot enough to try and turn on the fan. The first i knew about it was the passenger window wouldnt go up when I went to drive home. After asking on here I was pointed in the direction of the correct fuse - which it oddly shares with the engine bay cooling fan.

Im usually one to try to repair things but this was in a bad way and could barely be persuaded to turn at all so there was evidently something a bit beyond a dirty bearing at play. I asked around and bought a 2nd hand one from Darren at Mgfntfbitz which turned freely and didnt cost an arm and a leg like a new one.

As I listened to the fan it became obvious that all was not well. It sounded as though one of the blades was catching. Turning by hand proved otherwise.
A replacement was sourced but the bottom nut on the bracket is “as one” with its stud and has rusted away such that no spanner fits well enough to turn the nut.
I tried one of those sockets that is supposed to grip any old rusty nut. But I thing the flange on the nut prevented it sitting properly and the “line of attack” was compromised by the compliance bush and associated steelwork.
In the end I managed to release the fan motor and rotating unit and its shroud from both old and new fans. Eventually and I do mean eventually I managed to fit the new fan to the old bracket. It took many attempts to hold it in place whilst trying fit the first bolt.

So now the question is this. Does anyone know the full specification for both the engine bay fan and the radiator cooling fan motors?
At present engine bay fans are either NIS, NLA, or looking distinctly “second hand”.
Any one help with that please? Im not talking about the overall fan spec just the relevant motors.
Thanks.

Going back a good many years I re-engined one of my Land Rovers (I had several at the time), fresh engine, different radiator + intercooler. I couldn’t get a proprietary cooling fan that would fit & so it was a scrapyard job, where I found the Rover 200,400 & 600 fan element were identical & could be modified, it was the frame, into which the element fitted that differed, car to car.
These observations were made a number of years ago & at that time they were correct, whether they were current when the 25 & 45 shuffled off their mortal coils has to be conjecture.
It might, however, give you a lead into a supply chain.

How times have changed. I bought an new engine bay cooling fan for my wife's F in 2021 from Rimmer for £48.33. I think I took pictures of the manufacture's labels on the fan, I'll take a look and see if I can find the pictures.

This might be worth looking into:

Thank you for that link. I now have one and although not yet tested I see no reason to think it might not work.
Not sure it is OEM but it looks identical but with different labels attached.
