Anyone know / use a suitable mount to hang a Sav nav off about where the central air vents are?   Or even over where the passenger airbag would fit (if it had one.)
I've already found out that they are virtually invisible with the hood down.

Have you tried a mount that clips onto the slats of the vents ?

Have a look at Brodit. Not the cheapest but their products are well made.

I have this one and it takes my fold phone either folded or unfolded. Very secure in the vent, easy fit. Scratch that, not allowed to add links of photo's
Anyway it is described on Amazon as 1 Black Car Air Vent Mount, Universal for 4.7-12.9" Tablets/Phones, Foldable Dual-Mode Switch, 360° Rotation

Personally I use the one that came with the satnav. It is placed as low down on the screen as I can sensibly get and it is ideal. You don’t need to take your eyes off the the road in any significant degree and is within my focal range.
It may not be legally positioned but as I easily see over the top it is ideal for me. Why on earth would you put it anywhere else?

"Why on earth would you put it anywhere else?"
It is not legal and I have been warned.
It is too much direct light driving at night, especially with the preponderance of Fat Tank Surprisingly Useless Vehicles with neither the wit nor will to adjust their beams.
Why on earth would you put it there?

I put forward the following argument.
Low down at the middle of the screen does not obstruct any vision to the sides. It makes negligible difference to the vision ahead. In the TF you can’t see the front edge of the of the car. Looking ahead as you drive you will see what is to be obscured by the sat nav a few seconds later and that limited loss I suggest is insignificant.
Placed where it is the eye’s focus requires little change to switch from sat nav to road ahead. And it is a lot better there than in some other locations I can think of such as in a combined radio/sat-nav system Even the nature of the road ahead can be seen (hairpin bend, side turning, T junction etc) more easily.

We each make our choices .

I fitted a large monitor to use as a satnav on top of my dash to my ute, although technically illegal as the rules hear state that in should be to the right top of the screen, it is out of the way where it is, easily visible yet not blocking any of the view of the road ahead, the only thing it obscures from the drivers view is the top of the bonnet........ it's already been hit if it's obscured by the position of the damned screen, so the busy body authorities can go and get stuffed with their stupid one size fits all rules!
Due to the design on my vehicle it would be blocking my view of the road ahead if I mounted it in the postilion that they prescribe.
