In the Defender I have a mirror that shows the rearview camera footage on its left half when reverse is selected, if that is what you mean.
Works fine but I think the mirror is way too big for the TF

Some good ideas in the responses, thank you one and all.
Has anyone removed the headlining from around the top of the screen? Im thinking about how to conceal any new cables to the mirror and also how to disconnect the existing wire/plug.
Any information on that would be most helpful.

I have, it's pretty straightforward to remove. There's a how-to here:

As I look at the images in the "how to" it seems that you took all three panels off. Was there a specific sequence to this and can it be done without removing the dashboard ( note the base of the upright parts tucks behind the dashboard)?
I really dont want to be getting involved in removing all that just to run a cable up to the mirror . If it means removing the dashboard then the mirror option is a "no-go",

Remove the sides first, starting to unclip from the top, once free of the clips, the sides can be slip upwards & away. The top trim comes off in the same way.
I admit to not having worked on these trip parts for a while & so details may vary from your car to my f.
The clip retainers on the trim are robust, but so was the Titanic.
If you are intending to run cables, you will find tags behind which you can dress the cable.
If you are to bring the cable out from under the trim, you will find it advantageous to file ways along the trim edge, failure to do this will make replacements less neat.
When replacing it is better to place one end clip in first & squint down the trim to ensure alignment. Don’t be afraid of giving the trim a good thump to drive home.
The two outer trim; locate the bottom first & work up.
If taking off & replacing the trim for the first time can be a trying affair, until you realise that there is no room for kid gloves,
Just get on with it.

Whilst at work I was in discussions with a contractor who made money out of selling valves “salvaged from the Titanic”. A fairly steady business I believe!

If he had a reasonable stock, at new old stock prices & sensible, can I place an order.
I want to revalve a few amps.
8 x KT66
8 x EL34
8 x EL84
4 x EF86
And as many ECC83 & 82
And some GZ34
Am I barking up the wrong tree?
