Has anybody painted their mesh windshield? if so what did it look like, also I have purchased some hood straps and no idea how to put them on ......any ideas?

On the mesh type windstops you can remove the rubber strip and change the mesh material for any material of your choice, I recollect someone having used material from IKEA as they wanted it to match a tan interior.

With the rubber/mesh removed the frame could then be easily painted.

The finer the mesh the better it'll work.

The velcro ones work in basically the same way.

Would fitting these, stop the need to push down one of the roof bars to fold the roof down. At present I have to fold the roof down part way then fold down one rail for it to fold down completely?

Yes Chris that what these straps are for, make folding the roof a lot easier.

I got mine from ebay ......looking at the photo I think I have the wrong ones as mine look short

I think you'll find they are ok as they are under tension all the time so they are stretched to fit
