2004 tf 150 coolant temp 7 years 1 month ago #177060

hi all i am a newbie here and to mg's and i have a problem, coolant header tank is boiling over, temp gauge reading normal (halfway up)pipe from engine to rad is hot.pipe from rad to p r t cold (had it off and tested ok),flushed system through with p r t of and pipes and rad clear..
if any one can come up with any other suggestions i would be grateful. Fred

Sounds like it might be the coolant tank cap,this is a common problem it does not keep the coolant under pressure and boils over in tank.
Replace it with a genuine one,I always carry a spare as they only last a year or so.

Get a couple as it isn't uncommon for a brand new cap to be faulty either!

new header tank cap fitted, cost £6,20 job done. Thought i was going to have to fit a new head gasket. THANK YOU
