Hi folks!
Quick intro. Live in Malta. Owned several Mg's over the years and decided to give myself a TF for my 65th year. I enjoy driving and motorbikes and I tour in Sicily and Italy whenever I can. Wonderful weather, great food and some good mountain roads - perfect for the TF.
My username is Parrinu and I've just got an MGTF 160 2004 model. I've been browsing the forum about tyres. Lots of discussion. It seems the Japan made Proxes T1R are the tyres of choice. Great.. except that they are not available in Malta. I have been offered Pirelli Nero's or Dunlop SPortmaxx. Any ideas ? The only alternative is to have the Proxes shipped over from uk Any suggestions?

Welcome to this forum ! :welcome:

Did you know that an introduction is usually accompanied by a couple of pictures of the car... ?!

I have chosen for Hankook ventus V12 evo (215/40/16 K120, XL) after my Toyo's were worn.
I really like them and I think there quite equal to the Toyo's.
Only in wet conditions they seem to keep more grip than the Toyo's did but as you live in Malta you won't care I guess.

There are guides in the How To section about recommended tyres and sizes.

Hi and welcome to the forum

My F had Pirelli P6000's on when I bought it, they were horrible. I now have Jap T1R's and was very disappointed to hear they are no longer available.

Welcome!

Are Falken Ziex tyres available in Malta? Our long-term MGF now has Ziex 914's which give greater direction-able stability than the Japanese T1-R's on our other MGF, both are virtually new.

From driving in Malta wet-grip isn't going to be important; In the 1970's I hired a Mini, complained that it didn't have any windscreen wipers? The reply: It's not going to rain...lol
