Looking for some help (paid!) from a grease monkey who lives near Ashford in Kent. I have brought a MGTF and want to do brakes and a service. Just really need someone to hold my hand for the first time! lol

Dont know any grease monkeys but i do know there is a very good highly reputable mobile mechanic who lives down that way who happens to specialise on MG Rovers

Craig the "How To" orange tab on the right side have some great guides, you could always create a thread for what you are actually going to do and ask for advice or things to look for/avoid when doing the job, there are some very clever guys on here that will help you along if you feel competent enough to do the task and the shout box for instant advice

If you are in doubt, do nowt, and watch a pro do it for the first time, as said I think St Russel is close to you, but from reading other threads he is usually booked up a fair bit ..
If you are willing to travel to Poole you have Daz who will can do this for you, and will show you how quite happily ..

Thanks all for the info, I do have a few problems, but already with the help of this forum have ticked of some on the list. I must say... WHAT A FANTASTIC WEBSITE! Full of helpful people and helpful posts. I am so glad I found this!

I am a huge fan of getting stuck in on jobs, however I do feel strongly that any brake work is overseen by someone experienced rather than relying on remote advice. I wish I was nearer: I'd gladly lend a hand.
Those of us who've done disc/pad changes many times regard it as a simple task: many moons ago my brother guided me thru the process: he did one side and watched while I did t'other: good job he was there is all I will say!
