I too replaced the gearbox oil at 57,000 miles (96 MGF) the old oil was as black as the ''Ace of Spades'' i refilled with Castrol Synrans 75w90 on the advice of Roger Parker at MGOC, the gear changing has certainly improved. ( the new oil was light straw in colour).
