I’m sorry about not updating the status for this long. I opened the engine before I wrote here. 2 valves of the first cylinder broke and explode into pieces shattering the piston.
I have managed to find a 16K4F in really good shape for cheap so I’m going to try to do the swap myself. Worst case scenario I break this cheap motor and learn something new, best case scenario I fix the car for 300£.
Thanks everyone for the help, I will keep you updated as I do some progress!
Thanks everyone for the help. I am wondering that I can find the vvc160 too but I think that I should have to change ECU and some other stuff for the 160 to work right?
The 120bhp version (117 I think it was in fact) was sell too in the mgf and mg tf. As far as my understanding goes the changes to improve it to 135 were in injection and exhaust. The camshafts were slightly different but I could use the ones I have.
I wouldn’t care about losing those 15bhp my biggest concern is if it would work at all. I can’t think any reason it shouldn’t except for electronics but swapping the sensors should solve that.
Someone knows if this has been done before?
As far as I know the block and head are the same in both engines, both of them being G18K4 and the only difference should be sensors, inlet and outlet. I Know for sure that the block uses the same parts but the head uses diferent ones, they changed a lot the design of the head in different years but I am not sure if that would be a problem, as far as I know if the head is fabricated the same year it will use the same parts even if they are going to be the 117 or the 135 cv engine.
I have a TF 135. The last time i did the timing belt I forgot to remove the locker of the valves gear so when I turned it on the engine explode. I am thinking about putting a new engine iin it but the 135 is quite difficult to find where I live so I was thinking about using a land rover freelander unit (1998 90.000 miles) and fiting the mounts, sensors, inlet and outlet from my current 135. Would that be posible?
