The dash lighting-up was a red herring and was easily resolved.
Wondering if you can give me any advice as to my specific pscan errors:
P1191 Downstream (post cat) Oxygen Sensor Heater Electrical Fault. I also took a screenshot of the live data for this (see attached image). Is this a sensor failure (heater part of the sensor?) or could it be that I have mixed up the upstream/downstream connections?
P1522 Variable Intake Solenoid #2 Circuit Malfunction - I have only run car at idle and so VVC not tested. Found a post about this fault and it was suggested that it could be the two VVC connectors were around the wrong way - I will check mine but I think they are right.
P0170 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 1) - I have only run at idle and the clean fuel has Redex fuel cleaner/conditioner added.
I cleared the Pscan errors and am now down to three (see attached image).

Having had the rear subframe out of my MGF for a strip, clean and rebuild the engine has been reluctant to start from cold but fine when it gets going. This afternoon, having replaced the fuel pump and cleaned tank/filled with clean fuel I got the engine running smoothly once it overcame its reluctance to fire. Note that the oil temp gauge is currently disconnected and I would expect this to have an impact on the engine control unit. However, having turned the engine off and back on again the dash lit up like a Christmas Tree (see attached photo), hazard lights started flashing and a beeping noise was coming from somewhere. Having just purchased a PSCAN I connected this to the car and received a long list of errors (see attached). Can anyone make any sense of this situation and suggest where I should start with my fault finding?
This information really helped me today. Used the multimeter method and was done in an hour. Trial and error would seem to me to be a very time consuming method. Thanks again.
