Decided to finally do the leaking head gasket, I had a look at the valve seats while the head was off, the inlets look OK but the exhaust valve seats are a bit rough so will need a tad of lapping in.
In the head kit was a set of valve stem seals so it would have been a shame not to do them at the same time.
I had bought deep throated valve spring compressor when I did the head on my ex 955i Daytona but still not quite the right size to get the collets out so I made one up from a piece of 1” nominal bore steel water pipe and a Record G clamp, works a treat.
