Auseff, i have a contact email address for the chap in Suplex who designed the kit, might be worth asking him if they have had any problems with their "test bed" F ?

I also am very interested in the Suplex kit being marketed by B&G.
As I wil be over in the UK next month I was planning to visit them a have a .closer look.
I am not worried about my turrets as they were ripped out when I put adjustable shocks and PU bushes on some five years ago.
In fact my turrets were reinforced as per the X power racing guide and I think when my F goes to the wreckers the rear turrets will be the only thing that survives.
Will be very interested in your experience if you go down that route and if you can get hold of our September issue of Wheel Spin our club publication you will find the report refered to in above posts.

Andrew, if you PM me with your email address i can send you a pdf of the article written by Roger Parker MGOC last year at the time that SUPLEX were testing prototype units and trying to get a feel from owners if it was practical to go into production as they needed a minimum of 1000 units to keep costs down (250 sets) I also have a contact email address for the chap at Suplex who designed them.

The MGOC are currently selling the kit for £825 Sterling plus VAT at 20% = £990 ~ I assume that you would be VAT exempt if taking them back with you.

B&G are selling the kit for a simmilar price and i assume that the discount for MGCC members is because Ron Gammons is a big contribitor to the club. :cheer:

Does anyone know anything about the MG-F suspension kit that Brown & Gammons are marketing. It does away with the hydra-gas spheres? Am about to order a kit as pictured in the attachment.

A BIG WELCOME TO THE T BAR FORUM B) Please introduce your self and some pictures of you car would be good. Is that a VA tourer in your photo????

The MG Owners Club published an article about these new units which are made by SUPLEX in the UK, they have a "test bed" F with the prototypes fitted and were going to do another car and an article in one of the major MG Magazines, then everything went quiet!!!!
I was not aware that anyone was selling them yet! The projected cost in the UK was going to be around £900 sterling plus our VAT currently 20% plus the cost of new adjustable dampers, a good set such as Spax, Gaz or Bilstiens are around £600 including VAT ~ i would be interested to know how much you are paying B&G for the set.
Again, welcome to our forum :woohoo:

Bryan Young has received permission from the manufacturer to allow us to post up this exciting information about NEW suspension parts to replace the dwindling supply of original hydragas spheres.

SUPLEX UK

Our SUPLEX SUSPENSION conversion to the MGF is pretty well as described by Roger Parker in the MGOC magazine.

My first involvement with the MGF was assisting in the set up of the Trophy cars with Wynn Mitchell. These cars still running Hydrogas of course were restricted to damper tuning work only. At that time I was Technical Director of Eibach and we had a high tech race damper programme. The MGF race series was the first series to use those dampers.

It wasn’t long before I became heavily involved in the development of the coil sprung MGTF with the development engineers from MG-Rover.
Later I was to be thrown down the challenge of developing this conversion. Having been told it was impossible. I set out to prove that wrong. Also by this time I had set up the business centre of SUPLEX GmbH the German specialist suspension companies UK operation as managing director. I was approached by Caterpillar’s MG-ROVER spares division who were desperately seeking Hydrogas units as the supply was completely at an end to develop an alternative.

This prompted the completion of the project which I’d had in embryo state for some time.

Where we are now is having two prototype car sets available.
One on our own development car and one which will be fitted as a feature article to come out shortly taking the reader through all the steps in performing the conversion.

Essentially this conversion is designed to salvage a car when the Hydrogas fails and no replacement can be found. Whilst the concept and construction lends it’s self to further tuning work, in its base form that is not the intention.

It is designed to replicate as nearly as possible the characteristics of a standard MGF.

It was also intended that the completed design would require no modification work at all and that the conversion could be fitted quickly with simple tools. This we have achieved.

In order to achieve realist costs we are having to produce the parts we need in very large quantities, minimum one thousand pieces at a time. Hence we need to gauge interest at this time.

We are now confident there is a demand and are putting our first volume pieces into production during August 2010. We anticipate having the kit available in November 2010.

Our target retail price for the complete conversion is £850.00 + VAT
Which will include two front and two rear conversion canisters plus two front and two rear dampers.

We expect to make these available at this price from recognised MG specialists.

From my point of view, this is great news. The supply of hydragas spheres is dwindling quickly and without this there would soon come a point where MGFs would be scrapped purely because of lack of availability of Hydragas units.
Thanks to Bryan for enabling us to have a first look at this news.:yesnod:
