Rover 416 1 year 1 month ago #201499

New to Rover ownership and now have two.
I got the pscan tool and got it working with 1996 Rover 220 Turbo OK but can't work out how to connect to 1997 Rover 416 SL1.
Rover 416 is Auto with Honda D16Y3 engine

I have not written any software for the Honda engines, and know very little about them. Does your 416 have a sixteen pin diagnostic socket?

The details of the car.

Engine No: D16Y3-E221517
Chassis: SARRTCLTKAD181217
Vehicle Type: Passenger Car/Van
Seats: 5
CC rating: 1,590cc
Fuel Type: Petrol
Assembly Type: Imported Built-Up
Country of Origin: Japan
Gross Vehicle Mass: 1,455kg

I would say most later Rovers in New Zealand were imported from Japan as used cars.
My 220 Turbo is also used import

what year is your 416 ?
I don't know how to decode 200/400 VIN numbers.
Someone round the corner from me has recently bought a Rover 216, with a Honda engine.
I think it's a year 1996.
He let me have a quick look at it but I couldn't find the diagnostic socket.
It has a 3TXA alarm fob so I guess it has a 5AS alarm.

It is a 1997. Link to NZ govt registration database with more info here https://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=zw1823

It did not come with a key fob and runs so I assume no immobiliser in it.

The plug is attached to the fuse panel above the pedals.
