Posted 1 year 8 months ago #209153So I give you my best educated guess, as when these things are second hand, who knows what exactly the previous owner got up to.
Those remaining two wires......is one the black/white trace wire with the eye terminal? and does that wire come from the multi pin terminal plug that connects to the relay?
If so that needs to be earthed.
As for the other, it that the red/white wire with the end stripped? and does that come from the fuse holder? and does the other wire from the fuse holder go to the terminal plug of the relay?
If so that stripped wire needs to connect with a live source of power.
The green plug with the coloured wires should probably go to the switch.
You also seem to have some stray bits of coloured wire and another green plug with some black wires hanging out of it, these I suspect are just left over bits that were unused and as such could probably be discarded.... but not yet! Wait until the project is completed and working.
There is obviously more to this than included in the pix, I assume you had no difficulty figuring out where all this went but please feel free to make further enquiries if needed.

Posted 1 year 8 months ago #209157These wires?
As Cobber says red wire - permanent live and black wire - permanent earth.
Looking at the connectors, they are probably intended for attaching to the battery terminals.

Posted 1 year 8 months ago #209159OK so I have attached a few more pictures... I have worked out the the wires and green connector that I figured were 'spare' are in fact for the connector to the rear of the fog light switch! My question with all of this is, does anyone know in what order they are supposed to be going along/clicked inside of the green connector, or if in fact it makes difference? The second Question is; where do each of the ends of these wires go/get joined to?!

Posted 1 year 8 months ago #209162The spot/fogs are usually enabled by a positive from the head lamps, this is to prevent them being used without the head lamps being on.
Hence a relay. The switch wiring will include switch illumination when the side lights are on. The feed for warning light on the dash should link in to the loom at some point but as my supplementary illumination is custom I’m unable to help there, other than to assume it’s in the standard loom it integrates by design as you link the rest of the kit in.
I don’t recall there being any spot information on the wiring diagram & as I’m away I can only view it on my phone. Not good at all!
Is there not a diagram supplied?

Posted 1 year 8 months ago #209163I'll need some time.
The small cube like black box you refer to as the unit is actually the relay, this device acts as an electrically operated switch, it saves having to run all the current required for the lights through the switch which would wear out the contacts of the switch in no time, it is good practice to use these.
Yet again I'll need a little time to come up with what goes where and the same for the rear fogs which I didn't realise you were also fitting.
So to some up you seem to need help with all the wires not just the two mentioned in your earlier posts.....yeah?

Posted 1 year 8 months ago #209167SO Cobber sir - no only fitting from spotlights thats all. It was a wiring loom 'kit' that I purchased from ebay as I thought it would be 'simple' to fit lol OOPS!
No kind of instructions sadly and so I am rather blind and I can't get hold of the seller and tbf I had purchased these ages ago. The fact I now have the whole dash out, I really can't be bothered to put it all back together until I can get these bloomin' spots/fogs wired in lol
Thank you for the rely info thats all really interesting.
I shall await for all of your response on what to do next then. I presume with all the wires (the 5 from the back of the green switch connector) and the positive and negative, all need to be directly attached/piggybacked into ones currently in the main car loom that spreads off to all other switches etc?! I will wait patiently until you guys basically tell me what to do, because I am so so lost with this and again, i'm really thankful for all of your help

Posted 1 year 8 months ago #209171The factory set up is quite complicated and runs through the Body ECU which may require activating.
What you have dosen't look like a factory fog light kit as the wiring colours are wrong, and the rear fog light switch connector plug is the wrong colour (it should be blue) so I suspect you have some sort of aftermarket kit which may not require connecting to the Body ECU, which might be a good thing.......BUT and it's a very big but, bigger than a fat man's arse!
Is that from my vantage point on the other side of the world I can't see and feel exactly what you have got in your hot little hands!
Were it was sitting here in front of me I'd be able to figure it out PDQ (pretty damned quick)
Are they actually fog lights or driving/spot lights? There is a huge difference between the functions and applications of the two, the terms are often mistakenly interchanged.
Maybe you should post some pix of the lights themselves, so as we might be able to say what you have.
It was kind of Ol' Mate from Ebay to sell you that kit without any destuctions!
Maybe someone on here has dealt with one of Ol' mates kits before, if so hopefully they can enlighten us as to how it's meant to go.
I'm sorry but I can't really be of much help, If the car was here I could rig up the wiring in any number of ways to get it working but that would involve a bit of trial and error.
I will however on your behalf ask my tame auto electrician mate for his thoughts on the matter, though I suspect he will echo what I've said. And I never know when he will darken my door step. So it might take a while.
So you are going to need to enlist some local help, maybe if you posted your appoximate location on here, there might be a menber with the skill set to help nearby. Failing that you might need to handball it to an auto elecrician to nut it out.
