When you say that there isn’t much room in there, there really isn’t much room in there. For those who are inspired to follow & I think there is mileage in this mod’, do make sure you have a second person in earshot to help you retrieve your hands. Your hands will reach a point when they are so fed up of you asking them to do the improbable, that they refuse to respond to information sent from your cerebral cortex, becoming quite simply useless dead weights.
Voice of experience.

The obligatory shedding of one’s life juice was alluded to in an earlier post.
I am considering designing a magnetic sticking plaster dispenser which can be taken with your tools & attach it to the vehicle adjacent to where you are working.
Press button of course; a large button to dispense larger plasters which can be operated with an elbow or your forehead, whilst the uninjured hand attempts to staunch the grouting blood.
A nose button to summon the emergency services via an auto dial system could be fitted as an option.
Sometimes to consider.

I haven't been posting much on this forum recently, but just came across this thread.
I had been having similar problems with my clutch.
Tried everything to fix it, but finally discovered that the slave cylinder bracket was simply deflecting as I depressed the clutch pedal.
Fitting the well known brace modification completely solved the problem.  In fact the new brace pulled the slave mounting bracket forwards by at least 10mm while in the released position.

Definitely a good modification as it made a big improvement to the way the car drives.
I have also fitted the brake servo reinforcement bracket.  Although it stopped that deflection problem, there was no noticeable change to the way the car drives.

Is the slave cylinder brace a manufactured part or something that can be made at home ?

It is a enthusiast made part that someone offer(ed) for sale. MGmania  I think. It is easy enough to cobble something up yourself. It doesn't have to be as a sophisticated as the premade part. I just used a simple piece of flat bar drilled to attach the brake servo to a handy bolt on the firewall.

This is my first attempt.  .
While not aesthetically pleasing, it did the job and firmed up the brake 'feel'.
The job was complicated by having the old type heater box. In retrospect, I should have cut it out and fitted the newer snorkel type.

If you go back a bit I did a piece on the mods to my gear change & with some oddments left over made a clutch slave cylinder brace.
It can’t be much more than six months ago.

The clutch slave cylinder brace is available from MGOC spares, fits pre PRT thermostat cars.

That photo brought back memories of fitting my brake master cylinder brace. It was quite a struggle to get the full set of bolts in as a result of many years of braking on the bulkhead but it was well worth it for stiffening up the brake pedal and preventing any further flexing of the bulkhead.

For stiffening up the clutch slave cylinder , does it need a different brace depending on whether its a pre or post PRT car ?

My understanding is that it’s a clearance issue between the brace and coolant hoses on the PRT equipped cars.
