A couple of months ago, some of you will be aware that my MGF Steptronic was doing some odd things. The long and short was that the CVT would move through all the 'gears' or ratios up to 4th. I seemed to have solved this by changing the CVT fluid, ensuring correct level and changing filter. However, a few weeks later, I lost all drive apart from 1st gear.

I debated whether to scrap the Steppy as I already have a manual MGF, but, I couldn't bear to see her scrapped, so I managed to get hold of a replacement ZF steptronic gearbox. Using CJJ's excellent guides, I managed to remove the engine on the subframe pretty easily in a few hours yesterday. I have a 4 post ramp, so that made the job a bit easier and I only managed to shear 2 out of the 4 subframe bolts.

Anyway, I have attached some pictures of the engine removed.

Next thing is to swap out the gearbox. Does anyone know where there might be a good guide to doing this?
